Hill Skills

The Hill Skills course is aimed at the beginner and intermediate hill walker and is ideal for those wishing to gain and develop a practical understanding of walking in such an environment. It will cover topics such as, how to plan walks, become familiar with the use of a map and you will learn about the equipment required to be competent on the hill. You will also get a better understanding of  the effects of weather and how to deal with emergencies. Strategies for poor visibility navigation will also be covered.

Consolidate your existing skills and get accredited by Mountain Training.

Attendance on this course can be used as a prerequisite for those wishing to attain the new Lowland Leader Award.

Unlike other MT courses this has a minimum age of 14.

2 days instruction to enable you to walk safely on hills. This is a recognised course of the Mountain Training Board.

Experience Required
Before attending the course you must register with the Mountain Training and be over 14 yrs of age. The cost of this is £20 for adults and £17 for U18's and includes BMC Safety on Mountains Booklet
