This historic route traverses Dartmoor’s remotest country, following the boundary of the ancient royal forest. The first recorded Perambulation dates from AD1240, when King Henry III sent 12 knights on horseback to re-map the boundary.
Spirit of Adventure in conjunction with the 'Dartmoor Magazine' are trekking the Perambulation. A challenging trek following the route of the Knights! Eastern Tor (photo) taken by Sue Viccars is the most southerly point of this fantastic challenge.
