INTRODUCTION TO SEAKAYAKING

Our Kayaking courses are run in Devon and Cornwall with its rugged cliffs, golden sandy beaches and quaint harbours, has to be one of the most picturesque coastlines in the UK. By far the best way to see this stunning scenery is by sea kayak, no engine noise, no pollution and the satisfaction of providing your own power.

The day starts by checking tide and weather conditions, a coastal journey will be planned to provide a memorable and exciting day on the Devon or Cornish coastline. Ongoing instruction will be given to get the best from your trip. An average of 4 to 5 hours on the water each day, ensures that a quality paddle is achieved, with plenty of time for instruction and practice to improve your personal skills or just to enjoy the chance to explore this lovely part of the Southwest. Spirit of Adventure will supply modern sea kayaks and safety equipment and qualified staff to make your day exciting, fun and safe.

The trips are designed to allow you to experience the delights of sea paddling, sample the fauna and flora so abundant in these waters, stop off at lovely beaches along the coast. So just come, relax and enjoy the experience. Even if you have never paddled ‘at sea’ before you will soon be able to appreciate the benefits of these superb boats.

Previous experience. You will be exploring the coastline and open sea so should have a basic Kayaking experience, some of this on moving water. Our Introduction to Kayaking weekend would give you the required experience. If in doubt please contact for friendly advice!

Spirit of Adventure is inspected regularly by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA) and has been granted a licences to run canoeing, climbing and mountaineering activities. The authority inspects our equipment and safety procedures and ensures that all our staff are suitably qualified.

We are an approved British Canoe Union (BCU) centre which certifies that our kayaking, canoeing and water based sessions are run to the highest standards and that our equipment is up to date and well maintained.
