Peru
'A Land of Adventure'

Trekking and explorations around the Inca Trail, White-water Rafting, Jungle Exploration, Lake Titicaca and Multi-activity Adventures

Peru is a land of adventure.
The Andies offer a great opportunity for a wonderful 'Trekking and Adventure holiday'. The Inca Empire has left great monuments to explore. If you are after some extreme adventure then the grade 5/6 rivers are there to be rafted. With the political problems in Nepal making trekking difficult, Peru is a relatively safe country to trek and visit. Away from Lima there is very little crime against the tourist (as long as you sensible in your wanderings) and on the trail the days of ther 'Shinning Path' are long gone.

To ensure you have that ‘holiday of a lifetime’ all Spirit of Adventure trip guides are expertly trained. We are renowned for our porter care and ensure their working conditions are top priority, this in turn means your safety and your holiday expectations are genuinely catered for. At Spirit of Adventure we use only the very best activity equipment, not only does this ensure your safety but it looks great as well!!

You are only likely to go to Peru once - quality on the trek makes a difference!!

Our holidays are a cut above the average in Peru and our guides and porters all go ’the extra mile’ to ensure that you have a truly memorable holiday.

With our expert care and guidance you can explore Peru by raft, canoe, bike, on foot and new for this year, horseback. Spirit of Adventure has combined genuinely alternative adventures with the best historical and cultural attractions in a style that is wonderfully unique. The former Inca Capital and Spanish Colonial City of Cusco is the expedition base for most of our expeditions, a wonderful place full of culture, history, good restaurants and great nightlife.

The Inca Trail.

There are many ‘Inca Trails’ leading to Machu Picchu. One in particular has grown very popular and is beginning to suffer some erosion. In order to minimize the impact on this trail, the Peruvian authorities are limiting the numbers trekking on all the Inca Trails to 500 people per day. We will be able to confirm the availability of the Inca Trail at the time of booking.

Trip Options

The trek along the Inca Trail can be combined with a variety of options. The white-water rafting on the Rio Apurimac offers excitement, the jungle excursion is a true Amazonian experience and Lake Titicaca takes you to a place you have probably only read about in history books. For those who do not wish to trek then the 'Peru Explorer' offers a less active holiday but still with a visit to Machu Picchu.

Trip Extentions

All the Peru trips can have a trip extension tagged on to make your holiday even more memorable. The jungle excursion is a true Amazonian experience and Lake Titicaca takes you to a place you have probably only read about in history books. All you have to do is choose which extension you require, then complete the booking form indicating which trip you require e.g. Inca trail with Lake Titicaca extension. You may to add more than one extension to your trip, if this is the case please contact us so that we can tailor-make your itinerary.

Porters Rights

'Tourist Concern' is very much involved in improving the lot of Porters. Mountain trekking is exhilarating, beautiful and challenging but not many could do it without the help of porters to help carry the equipment. Porters can suffer from frostbite, altitude sickness and injury. We at 'Spirit of Adventure' have a very strong policy regarding porters, we ensure they have the right clothing, provide sleeping tents and, where possible, we ensure they have insurance to cover them in case of accidents.

Our policies have been acknowledged by 'Tourism Concern' details of which can be found on their website at www.tourismconcern.org.uk If you would like more information on our policies please do not hesitate to contact us.
