Walking on Dartmoor

If you do not fancy dangling over rock faces on the end of a rope or kayaking and raft building on a local lake, then this weekend could be for you. Over two days we will explore one of Devon's beautiful rivers by canoe and take a walk over some of the remoter parts of Dartmoor.
On Saturday you will learn some map and compass techniques out on the stunning Dartmoor Forest. The North Moor has very few paths, is remote and beautiful. You will be led by a fully qualified instructor who will guide you through the basics of navigation.
On the Sunday we will embark on a canoe exploration of the beautiful river Tamar. Way inland and still tidal, we put in at the quaint riverside village of Calstock. Here we will catch the tide up river, passing the still working historical dock and mines at Morwelham Quay, taking our picnic on the bank. After lunch making our leisurely return to Calstock on the ebbing tide.
You do not need to be super fit for this weekend nor do you need any previous canoeing experience, these weekends are designed as an enjoyable introduction to Dartmoor and canoeing.
